The goal of our House League is to:

1. Teach the fundamental skills of the game.
2. Teach sportsmanship, fair play, and team work.
3. Have FUN!
 
 
We encourage all participants to have learned to skate prior to participating in the house league. The Big Bear Ice Arena offers excellent learn to skate programs. Please consult the Big Bear brochures for further information on these programs.
 
The House League program is divided into seven age levels:
 
 
 
1. Mites: Children born in 2002/2005
2. Squirts: Children born in 2000/2001
3. Pee Wees: Children born in 1998/1999
 
All levels will begin their season on October, 2nd 2010. There is minimal conflict with the soccer season. After a “rating session” players are placed into equally divided teams that play and practice together. The season concludes in mid-March. Program runs approximately 20 weeks. Players skates on ice three times per week. Schedule won’t conflict with major holidays. All house league activity will take place at Big Bear Ice Arena.
 
Should you wish to participate as a volunteer coach, please fill out a BIG BEAR COACHING APPLICATION that can be found online.
 
 Mites:
At the Mite level, players will transition into full five on five ice hockey. The emphasis will remain on skating, along with team play. Games will be played introducing line changes to players. The Mites will also participate in a post-season tournament.
 
Squirts & Pee Wees:
Squirts and Pee Wees will continue to learn the fundamentals of ice hockey, stressing team play and sportsmanship. Squirts and Pee Wees will be introduced to advanced skating and puck handling techniques, as well as game strategies.
 
In order to properly balance all teams, participation in the “rating session” is extremely important. There is only one session, so please make every effort to attend.
 
 
1. Mites (All): Saturday, October 2nd @ 1:15pm-2:15pm
2. Squirts (All): Saturday, October 2nd @ 12:45pm-1:45pm
3. Pee Wees (All):Saturday, October 2nd @ 6:15pm-7:15pm
 
 
Program Fees - $685.00 All levels!
Payments plan:
1. $485 first installment by October 1st.
2. $200 final installment by November 1st.

OFF ICE WORKSHOPS FOR FIGURE SKATERS

The coolest place to be this summer is Big Bear Ice Arena!

Please join us for off ice workshops for figure skaters.

The Big Bear Figure Skating Workshops provide2 hours of off ice training designed to help bring out the best in everyone’s skating. Each workshop will include approximately ½ hour in each of the following disciplines: yoga/stretching, dance/ballet, agility, plyometrics, and theatrics. The workshops will be taught by our highly qualified Big Bear staff coaches, Jill Albrecht, Paul and Lisa Binnebose, Caitlin Brozna, and Kate Goodman.

Bring the whole family for an evening of Halloween fun at the skating rink! Our Costume Ice Skate will take place Saturday, October 27 from 2:30-4:30 pm. All ages welcome, young and old! Adult Hockey League Summer 2020 Season

We are glad to announce that Big Bear will be bringing back adult league next month!

We will be starting up a shortened summer league that will go for 6-games with a single-elimination playoffs. Due to restrictions, teams will be limited to 12 players and 1 goalie.

No subs allowed.

Registration will be online and must be done individually as each player must sign an updated waiver. 

Fees $160.0 per player

Then, your team will be created and up to 15 skaters and 1 goalie will be able to register to the team. You will receive an email with a link to your team’s registration where your players will be able to sign up.
  • How to register as a Free Agent: Fill out the online Free Agent registration and pay the individual player fee.
  • How to register as a goalie Free Agent: Fill out the online Goalie Free Agent registration and pay the goalie fee.

SUBS

The BBAHL will not be allowing ‘pay-to-play’ sub players in the Winter 2020-2021 season.

REFUNDS

The following refund policy will continue for the Fall/Winter 2020-2021 season.

  1. If a player needs a refund and has a player sign up in their place, they will receive a pro-rated refund based on the team’s games played.
  2. If a player needs a refund but does not have a player to register in their place, they will be given a refund equal to 50% of the pro-rated refund based on the team’s games played.

We at Big Bear invite you to attend our Pawblic Skate fundraiser for the Denver Cat Company!

Walk-ins Welcome! No pre-registration required!

Camp Description:

This camp is for kids aged 6 to 12 and will have two ice touches per day separated by a dry-land time. Kids will be dropped off around 7:30am and the first session will start at 8:00am. This session will focus on skating development and puck-work. At 9:00am, kids will get off the ice and we will go outside to work on exercises that will strengthen on-ice performance. The off-ice session will have a different focus each of the three days: shooting, skating (leg work), and endurance. After off-ice, we will have a snack-break and kids will begin to get ready for the next ice touch. We will get back on the ice at 10:45am, and this session will focus on stickhandling and shooting, with some time allotted to mini-games at the end. The kids will be off the ice at 11:45am and will be ready to get picked up at noon.

 

Camp Schedule:

  • 8:00am-9:00pm On-Ice Session
    • Focus on skating development and puck-work.
  • 9:15am-10:15am Off-Ice Session

The BBAHL will not be allowing ‘pay-to-play’ sub players in the Spring-23 season.

REFUNDS

The following refund policy will continue for the Spring-23 season:

  • If a player needs a refund and has a player sign up in their place, they will receive a pro-rated refund based on the team’s games played.
  • If a player needs a refund but does not have a player to register in their place, they will be given a refund equal to 50% of the pro-rated refund based on the team’s games played.

 

DIVISION GAME NIGHTS

The following divisions are scheduled to play on the following nights:

  • D2 Monday League: Intermediate-level
  • D4 Tuesday League: Beginner-level
  • C3 Wednesday League: Fastest Recreational
  • C4 Thursday League: Intermediate Recreational
  • D3 Sunday League: Beginner-level 
  • Lunchtime League: Mixed-level (draft will balance teams’ skill level)

    • Focus on stickhandling and shooting

Learn to Play Hockey Program

LOWRY LEARN TO PLAY HOCKEY Powered by the Littleton Hockey Association!

The Lowry Learn to Skate Hockey and Learn to Play Hockey Program is designed for kids of 5 to 12 years old, who already know how to skate well enough to make it up and down the ice without holding onto anything.

Schedule:

  • Round 4
    • Saturday and Sunday April 27 – May 19, 2024. Group 1 @ 9:00am-9:30am. Group 2 @ 9:30am-10:00am.

Fee: $80.0 per Round (Class of 8 sessions).

Full equipment is required and will NOT be provided.

Players will be required to register with USA Hockey prior to registering for the program. This can be done by going to www.USAHockey.com.
