ARENA POSITIONS (updated 2-25-10)

Locker Room Attendant (Part Time - $10/hour)
·         Responsibilities include maintaining four, pro-style ice hockey locker rooms.
·         Responsibilities include, but not limited to, removing trash from waste cans, vacuuming carpets, sweeping floors, and laundry of towels.
·         Keep the locker room in an orderly fashion.
·         Hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00pm – 1:00am. Saturday and Sunday’s must be flexible. This schedule is subject to change.
 
Facility Caretaker – starting rate $9/hour
o    Responsibilities include removing trash from waste cans in offices, vacuuming carpets, sweeping floors, and in general keeping the space in an orderly fashion.
o    Perform other duties as required.
 
Skate Guard – starting rate $8/hour
o    Enforce rules of public open skate session through model behavior.
o    Ice Guards should remain in view of ice at all times in addition to monitoring participants while never leaving the ice unattended.
o    Assist participants with skate rental including helping customers put on skates if need be.
o    Ensure skates are in good condition. Ice guards must wipe down blades after each use, tuck in laces, and place in correctly labeled spot. If there is a problem with a pair of skates, guards should notify the supervisor on duty.
o    Ice guards must wear orange jackets that are provided while on duty.
o    Aid all skaters that fall and make sure they are not hurt; if any injury occurs notify the facility coordinator immediately.
o    Be respectful and friendly at all times. Remember your impressions are important. The customer is not always right, but is never wrong.
Other Position Functions:
o    Conduct light cleaning of the skate cage and around the rink after every public open skate session.
o    Carry through all other tasks assigned periodically.
Working Conditions:
o    Hours will be on weekends and some weekdays when school is out.
o    This position will be in the ice arena, which at times is as cold as 30 degrees.
Physical Demands:
o    Ice guards must be able to skate reasonably well.
o    While performing duties of the job, the employee is required to skate, talk, and listen to the on goings of public open skate.
Minimum Qualifications:
o    Must be able to perform all essential position functions under the working conditions as described.
o    Must be self-motivated as well as a hard worker.


Zamboni Driver – starting rate $9/hour
o    Responsibilities include operation of the Zamboni to maintain the ice sheet. Zamboni responsibilities include changing the fuel tanks, changing the blades (as necessary), and emptying the holding tank.
o    Undertake the necessary preparations for each resurfacing.
o    Use edging equipment to maintain ice quality. Chop ice prior to edging.
o    Dispense locker room keys to authorized hockey groups. Clean and inspect the locker room after each use.
o    Sweep bleachers, player benches, and skate changing areas.
o    Maintain the cleanliness of the dasher boards and rink glass.
o    Perform other duties as required including general maintenance of the facility.
